Hrithik reveals his reasons to choose TV

Known for his complicated moves and mesmerizing dance form, Hrithik Roshan, who makes his foray into television with a brand new reality show Just Dance, doesn’t agree that he is 'God of Dance' as he is called on the show. In a candid chat, Hrithik reveals his reasons to choose TV, especially this show and what he expects from this endeavour.

What prompted you to chose Just Dance as your first television appearance?I was never inclined towards doing television shows but when I was approached with this concept, it connected with me and I came on board. That is the same method I apply when I choose my films projects. One has to identify with something, only then can you be excited about your work. I assure you that Just Dance is a show never been seen before and I am very proud to be associated with No 1 GEC of the country Star Plus, to bring the best talent forward. Along with talented choreographers, Farah Khan and Vaibhavi Merchant, we will hunt the best in dance, the ultimate dancing champion, from across the globe –India, UK, US.

What will be the judging parameters? In the show, we will be looking for someone who goes beyond steps, beyond counting- one, two, three, four. They should feel the dance in their soul, in their bones. According to me, competition is the only way to push you to excel in life. Competition nurtures innovation, drives passion and Just Dance is a show that takes this energy to a whole new level. I can’t wait and am looking forward with bated breath to Just Dance.

Is the concept indigenous or derived from a foreign show? This is something never done before. I have seen numerous dance shows and was blown away when this concept came to me. The international auditions will begin on 27 February and the Just Dance team will scout talent in Britain, US, and major cities across India. Just Dance will provide a global platform for dancers not only passionate about their art but enjoy different dancing styles as well.
How does it feel to be called the 'God of Dance', especially in the promos of Just Dance?I don’t think anyone is God of Dance- especially not me. According to me, dance is an expression. When first time someone would have danced, he must have been happy, jubilant, overwhelmed or perhaps emotionally charged. For me the root of dance is that first expression, that first person who have some emotion inside him that he wanted to express via his body.

Who is your God of dance?Shammi Kapoor is the God of dance for me, because he went beyond steps, his body just moved to music and he created magic moments. Also, I believe there are gurus of dance who teach you the intricacies, the nuances and I have two wonderfully talented gurus with me on the show. I have been guided and abused by them many times but that helped me hone my dancing skills to this level

Numerous filmstars are on telly today. Are you nervous, anxious or apprehensive about the TRP war?Not at all. It is the same way as numerous actors do numerous films. You can’t keep worrying or keep tabs on who is doing what. You have to work on yourself, your projects and leave the rest to God.
Reports in the media suggest you are paid Rs 112 crore for Just Dance. Is it true?I thought I was paid very well but then I heard these speculative reports. Now I feel like renegotiating.

Who is your favourite filmstar on TV? Who do you watch on TV?I hardly watch TV. But I have seen bits of most celeb reality shows. I look upto all of them. I enjoyed watching Mr Bachchan the most.

Hrithik Roshan in Telugu block-buster “Magadheera” remake?

Hrithik Roshan is in mood to repeat what Salman Khan has been doing. The latter who tasted success with Telugu remake “Pokiri” as “Wanted” in Bollywoood is right now doing two southern films as remakes with one being from Telugu. Now, it seems it is the turn of hunk, Hrithik Roshan.

Yes, if reports are to be believed then Hrithik Roshan would be playing the lead role in the remake of Telugu Mega hit Magadheera which catapulted Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Teja into the big league of Andhra box-office. Magadheera is the highest grosser of Telugu film industry as of now crossing forty crores of mark with in few weeks of its release.
Producer of Magadheera, Allu Aravind is in talks with the Guzaarish star to reprieve the role of Ram Charan Teja. Aravind’s last venture in Bollywood was Ghajini. The producer is keen on repeating the success of Ghajini with Roshan Jr this time.
An official conformation is yet to be announced about the actor’s participation or not in the film. But one thing’s for sure, if Hrithik accepts Magadheera it would eventually give the star the much needed blockbuster that he needs after Kites and Guzaarish.

Hrithik Roshan and Valentine's Day

This Valentine's Day, like every year, is going to be very special for Hrithik Roshan. The superstar is going out for family and children and most importantly he is looking to surprise Sussanne. "I really put in an effort when I buy gifts. I believe in giving my wife meaningful things that can bring a smile on her face. Which woman doesn't like receiving gifts from her man? Not just Sussanne, even if I'm gifting something to anyone be it my parents, children or close friends, I make sure the gift is special," Hrithik said.

Ask him to reveal his best moment of romance and he shoots, "It is definitely the day I said the three big words to Sussanne. It took her by surprise. I don't really have great memories of Valentine's Day as I was a shy kid and never really got the courage to walk up to the girl I liked and talk to her, forget asking her out." Now, this really surprises us as Hrithik has been making girls go weak in their knees for the longest time. "I became confident as I grew up. But it surely feels great getting all the attention. It is a huge compliment. I don't think today being married changes anything. Marriage makes people sexier," he says.
For Hrithik, love is like oxygen that he can never do without. "I'm an incurable romantic. I love the concept of being in love with one person throughout my life and I'm blessed to have Sussanne and on Valentine's Day, I renew my vows of being with her, loving her and her bouncing board all my life. I believe that little things make the biggest difference to a relationship. I'm a very passionate person. For me, Valentine's Day is more than just the conventional man-woman relationship. It's about love for family, for children and for people around me. I thank my fans for the love they have been showering on me and I promise to give back as much as I can."

Professionalism of Hrithik Roshan

Hrithk Roshan went on a stretch of 17 hours to shoot a promo for his upcoming foray into small screen, a dance based reality show titled “So you think you can dance”. The actor went on to shoot for it even though he had a muscle tear.

Now adding another feather to his Professionalism, the Guzaarish star was seen on the first day of shoot of yesteryear’s remake of Amitabh Bachchan starrer “Agneepath” provided he was not necessary for the shoot on the concerned day. Entire unit on the location was dazzled to see the star’s presence wondering whether he had any scenes to shoot but eventually came to know that he came to see how thing’s are panning out.
Sources revealed that Roshan Jr was seen showing keen interest on what’s happening in the location. Agneepath star’s Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Rishi Kapoor in the lead and is produced by Dharma Productions. Certainly Roshan Jr surprises everybody, one or the other day with his professionalism. Any body listening?

"So You Think You Can Dance" will be aired in June ??

Ganesh Hegde has been signed on to judge Star Plus’s dance reality show Just Dance along with Hrithik Roshan, sources said. Prabhudeva and Jaaved Jafferi have been approached to be the third judge.

The show is said to be on the lines of So You Think You Can Dance though it has been tweaked a bit. Participants will be culled from across the world with auditions in New York and London.

However, unlike So You...which has a pair competing for the prize money, Just Dance will have solo contestants competing with the ‘’God of dance”.

Hrithik will dance with each of the finalists. The superstar recently shot for the show’s promo and music video. Auditions will start from February 16 and the show will, in all probability, be aired in June.

Hrithik Roshan: The Sexiest Indian?

Hrithik Roshan appears on the cover of the February issue of Marie Claire for being India's sexiest man. The mag has females grace its cover and only once a year it is a male. This time, the Guzaarish actor has the honour. In the accompanying article, he talks about love as it is a Valentine's Day issue.

He says, "Love should be the first emotion you discover and learn and grow with." While about his other love -- dance, the star states, "All I can say is when you're dancing, just let go. Don't be afraid to look stupid. I don't have a style; I'm not a professional dancer."

Hrithik’s Agneepath: Shooting begins!

The shooting of Hrithik Roshan’s Agneepath remake, produced by Karan Johar, began in Mumbai on Tuesday.
While Tuesday’s shoot only included the supporting actors, lead actors Hrithik and Priyanka Chopra are expected to join the crew later this month. Hrithik plays the legendary role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, which won Amitabh Bachchan a National Award, a couple of decades back in 1991.
The original released in 1990 and although it didn’t do too well at the box office back then, the film is still remembered as one of Bachchan’s greatest performances ever. With humongous expectations and inevitable comparisons, it would be very interesting to see how Hrithik performs in arguably his most challenging role to date.
The Agneepath remake is directed by Karan Malhotra (the original was directed by Mukul Anand) and is expected to release by the end of 2011.

2 Crores per episode for Hrithik

If industry sources are to be believed, Hrithik Roshan will soon be the highest paid television host of India, as the actor will be paid close to Rs 2 Crores for each episode of an upcoming dance reality show titled ‘Just Dance’.
The show which will feature dancers from all over the country, is expected to run for more than 50 episodes and will make the actor richer by 100 to 110 crores!
Just Dance is likely to be aired on Start Plus sometime in May – June and the promos are expected to hit screens in the next few weeks.

Hrithik shoots for 17 hours with injury

Hrithik Roshan, whose Agneepath remake produced by Karan Johar went on floors last night, has been literally burning the midnight oil for his upcoming dance reality show, Just Dance, on Star Plus. The actor, despite having a muscle tear in his chest area, shot for 17 hours continuously to complete the promos for his debut as judge on the TV show which was earlier called Dance Olympic.

Roshan reported for shooting on Monday at 9 am, and wrapped at 2 am on Tuesday morning at a studio located in Malad. His schedule included rehearsals and the actual promo shoot. The actor, despite experiencing pain, continued to shoot. After a point, he consumed painkillers, and was also given a shot in his arm so that his pain was temporarily taken care of.
A close associate of the actor confirms the events, saying, “He was extremely co-operative. He didn’t want the teams from SOL Productions, the company producing the show, and Star Plus to reschedule the shoot because it would have meant a lot of monetary and other damages. He took his medicines, and completed everything he was supposed to.”
A source from the production house adds, “Hrithik was extremely professional. He didn’t let us cancel the shoot though we offered to do that because we were really concerned about his health. Since he understands the nuances of production, he decided to continue.”
The promo of Just Dance is expected to break in a few days. The show is likely to start around mid-2011 and will feature dancers from various countries. Reportedly, the channel and the production house approached Roshan Jr in the last quarter of 2010, just ahead of his year-end release, Guzaarish.  The actor, acknowledged in the movies for his dance skills has apparently offered a fee of Rs 2 crore an episode.
If industry speculation is anything to go by, the show, which is expected to run into 56 episodes, will fetch Roshan anything between
Rs 90 and 112 crore, turning him into one of the highest paid Bollywood exports on TV. Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar, who were paid approximately between Rs 1.5 and Rs 1.75 crore for their shows, would rank second and third then.
